We are falling into a bottomless well. Deeper and deeper. I can’t find a way to help him nor myself. It’s only ten days till Halloween. He should have told me earlier. What am I supposed to do with that short amount of time?

“Does someone call me? ” Mysterious voice is ringing from nowhere. I tilt my head around. It seems like an echo in my brain.

“I am the one who granted your little cat. Do you want to talk to me now? ”

“Who are you? ” Immediately I answer. Leon is lying on my chest. He quickly looks up. Am I the only one who hear that voice?

“Yes, you are. I don’t want to be interrupted. Just sleep for a bit my kitty.”

Leon’s head suddenly falls down. Is this devil power? It’s not fair. How can I win against this kind of unexplainable sorceries? I don’t even see his face.

“Humans will never win no matter how hard they try.”

“So what do you want? You try to consume Leon’s soul, right? ”

“Consuming his soul is the easiest thing I can do. I just want to have a little bit of entertainment in my immortal life. Seeing him run around and try hard to be with you is fun. Now you attend this event too. I’m very appreciated.”

How upsetting is this? He is playing with us like the heartless toys.

“I love your fierce expression. You don’t afraid of what you don’t know. I haven’t met someone like you for a long time. Tell me what you want I will make your wish come true.”

“And what will you take from me in exchange? ”

“You’re impressively smart. Leon will be proud of you.”

“Stop blabbing. You’re coward. Hiding yourself away somewhere and make fun of people. Do you think you are so powerful? I will send you back to hell! ”

“Oh, someone has interesting determination. You are more fun than that weak tiny cat. Should I kill him now and play with you instead? ”

I’ve never been in this level of anger before.

“Come out and talk to me in person! Or whatever form you are.”

I hear something above my head is cracking. Long black nails pierce down and tear the ceiling apart. I swiftly hold Leon in my arms. Don’t know what is going on. Disgusting square pupils are sparkling in the dark. Black crooked horns, red face, horridly over all appearance get me shiver.

“You are lucky enough to see me and still breathing, Riley. I let humans see me only when they are going to die.”

“Sorry, I don’t feel any honor. You look disgusting.”

“Wow. I love that confident.” He finally jumps down on his goat feet. His long tail sways left and right. Looking happy over my rage.

“Thanks but I hate you.”

He grins. I don’t want to entertain him any further. So I tighten my embrace. Make sure Leon will be safe in my arms. I look at the devil in the eyes. Finding what is inside him.

It likes I jump in an Ocean whirlpool. There is no emotion in his eyes. The dark pupils pull me in so deep. Too deep that I think I will never return into consciousness again. But I can feel hot breath on my chest. I feel Leon’s warmth. So I snap back to the reality.

Although all of this doesn't look real.

“Are you going to make a wish with me or not? I have a lot more stupid humans to take care of.”

“Like I will fall in your trap after all this thing. No, I don’t want anything from you. On the other hand, I will take Leon back. Prepare yourself. I’m coming for you. Even if you are God, I’m still going to fight you. And I will do everything to not lose this battle.”

I can see the anger in his eyes. Ah, I have read it somewhere. Demons are stronger with fear. He can’t touch me when I’m fearless.

“This is entertaining. Don’t you think so?” I use the same word as him.

If Satan push us to the deep trap, I will tie him with the unbreakable rope and drag him down in the holy water deeper than he could ever imagine.

เรากำลังตกลงในบ่อน้ำซึ่งไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด ลึกขึ้นลึกขึ้น ผมไม่สามารถหาหนทางในการช่วยเขา หรือตัวผมได้ อีกแค่สิบวันจะเป็นวันฮาโลวีน เขาควรบอกผมเร็วกว่านี้ ผมจะทำอะไรได้ในช่วงเวลาที่สั้นขนาดนั้น

"นายเป็นใคร" ผมตอบกลับทันที ลีออนนอนอยู่บนอกผม เขารีบมองขึ้นมา ผมเป็นคนเดียวที่ได้ยินเสียงนั้นเหรอ

"ใช่ นายได้ยินคนเดียว ฉันไม่อยากโดนขัดจังหวะ นอนสักหน่อยนะแมวเหมียว"

ศีรษะของลีออนร่วงลงกะทันหัน นี่เป็นพลังของปีศาจงั้นเหรอ ไม่ยุติธรรมเลย ผมจะเอาชนะมนต์คาถาที่อธิบายไม่ได้นี้ได้ยังไง ผมไม่เห็นหน้าเขาด้วยซ้ำ

น่าหงุดหงิด เขาเล่นกับเราเหมือนเป็นของเล่นไร้หัวใจ

"ฉันชอบสีหน้าดุดันของนายนะ นายไม่กลัวสิ่งที่นายไม่รู้จัก ฉันไม่ได้เจอใครที่เหมือนนายมานานแล้ว บอกฉันสิว่าอยากได้อะไร ฉันจะทำให้คำขอนายเป็นจริง"

"หยุดพร่ำ นายมันขี้ขลาด ซ่อนตัวเองอยู่ที่ไหนสักที่ เล่นตลกกับผู้คน คิดว่าตัวเองมีพลังมากงั้นสิ ฉันจะส่งนายกลับไปนรก!"

"โอ้ ใครบางคนมีความมุ่งมั่นที่น่าสนใจ นายสนุกกว่าแมวน้อยแสนอ่อนแอ ฉันควรฆ่าเขาตอนนี้ไหม และมาเล่นกับนายแทน"

ผมไม่เคยโกรธถึงขั้นนี้มาก่อน

"ออกมาและคุยกับฉันตัวต่อตัว! ด้วยรูปร่างอะไรก็ตามของนาย"

ผมได้ยินอะไรบางอย่างเหนือหัวผมแตกออก เล็บยาวสีดำแทงลงมา กระชากเพดานออกจากกัน ผมกอดลีออนไว้ในอ้อมแขนอย่างรวดเร็ว ไม่รู้ว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้น ลูกตาสี่เหลี่ยมน่าขยะแขยงเป็นประกายอยู่ในความมืด เขาโค้งงอสีดำ ผิวหน้าแดง ภาพลักษณ์โดยรวมที่น่าหวาดหวั่นทำให้ผมสั่น

"นายโชคดีพอที่จะเห็นฉันและยังหายใจอยู่ ไรลีย์ ฉันให้มนุษย์เห็นฉันเฉพาะตอนที่พวกเขากำลังจะตาย"

"ขอโทษนะ แต่ฉันไม่รู้สึกเป็นเกียรติเลยสักนิด นายดูน่ารังเกียจ"

"ว้าว ฉันชอบความมั่นใจนั้น" ในที่สุดเขาก็กระโดดลงมายืนบนเท้าแพะของเขา หางยาวสะบัดซ้ายขวา ดูมีความสุขกับการโกรธของผม

"ขอบคุณ แต่ฉันเกลียดนาย"

เขายิ้มกริ่ม ผมไม่อยากทำให้เขาสนุกมากไปกว่านี้ ดังนั้นผมกระชับอ้อมกอด ดูให้แน่ใจว่าลีออนปลอดภัยในอ้อมแขนของผม ผมจ้องเข้าไปในตาของปีศาจ มองหาสิ่งที่อยู่ข้างใน

มันเหมือนผมกระโดดลงไปในคลื่นน้ำวนของมหาสมุทร ไม่มีความรู้สึกอยู่ในตาเขา ดวงตามืดมิดดึงผมลงไปลึก ลึกมากจนผมคิดว่าจะไม่ได้กลับคืนสติอีกแล้ว แต่ผมรู้สึกได้ถึงลมหายใจร้อนบนอก ผมรู้สึกถึงความอบอุ่นจากตัวลีออน ดึงผมกลับมาสู่ความเป็นจริง

แม้ว่าทั้งหมดนี่ไม่มีอะไรเหมือนจริงเลยก็ตาม

"นายจะขอพรกับฉันหรือไม่ขอ? ฉันมีมนุษย์โง่เง่าอีกหลายคนต้องไปดูแล"

"อย่างกับว่าฉันจะตกหลุมพรางหลังจากเรื่องทั้งหมดนี่ ไม่ ฉันไม่ต้องการอะไรจากนาย ในทางกลับกัน ฉันจะเอาลีออนคืน เตรียมตัวไว้ ฉันจะตามล่านาย แม้ว่านายจะเป็นพระเจ้า ฉันก็ยังคงจะสู้กับนาย และจะทำทุกอย่างเพื่อไม่ให้แพ้ในสงครามนี้"

ถ้าซาตานผลักเราลงในหลุมพรางลึก ผมจะมัดเขาด้วยเชือกที่ไม่มีวันขาด ลากเขาลงไปในน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ลงไปให้ลึกกว่าที่เขาเคยจินตนาการ

จะเริ่มมันส์กันหน่อยๆ หึๆ บอกแล้วว่าเดาไม่ถูก พลิกล็อกกันน่าดูถล่มทลายแน่นอน
