19 — planner
  • You feel suffocated, caged, enclosed.

This society taught you that high education means high opportunity, so you obey and keep study. You stuck to the system they wrote out for you (but they were not the ones who use these design).

You wonder what it means to be human.

If being human means you have to deal with all these stress in return of having a so-called highest-of-all-the-creatures-on-the-earth intelligence, you'd rather be a pampered puppy. You just want to be happy, or at least feel free.

You can only think though, taking actions are off-limits. You still have to be flowed in society to live anyway.

Just staring at the planner drains your energy, almost every day in this month are filled with work, a few empty ones are made for you to review your subjects.

Today is one of those unmarked days, you're sitting in a cafe. You choose to sit next to the window, wanting to feel a sense of open space.

You pick a book assigned in a social class to read. This story is quite good actually. You're absorbed into the book, not paying attention to any of your surrounding. It's nearly half of a book that you notice something.

The man sitting on the next table ahead of you is holding the same book as yours, his body's facing you so you can see clearly what the cover's read. He's also looking at you with a glint of interest. You're intrigued, you don't think this book will be an eye-catcher for anyone (except those who are semi-forced to read like you, even though it's fun).

    'Such a coincident?' He starts.

'Um, yeah,' you're nervous, you always be like this with strangers.

'How far are you on this book? I'm at the page 155.'

    'I'm on page 173.'

'Wow, we're close to the same number. By the way, do you understand what it says on the last section of chapter 2? I'm a bit lost on that. You don't mind me asking, do you?'

'Oh no I don't. But I'm not sure if my thought is true or not.'

'There's no true or false in one's thought, just having your own opinion is a good thing so far.'

'That's a good attitude you have there.'

He pauses a bit, 'can I move to your table? Seems like I will have more to discuss with you. Also, the cafe is rather crowded today, we might help one or more people to have a seat or two.'

'Ummmm.. I think I wouldn't mind to have a company.'

So he moves to my table, we talk about what we think about the book. And the the subject seems to change into another and another thing till I lost count of how many subjects we  have talked about. I get more comfortable with him that I even shared my uneasiness to him.

'Let's go out, do something adventurous,' he says out of the blue.

    'What?'

'You said that you feel caged, you gotta ease up you know? Don't be so tight with yourself.'

'It's just.. I don't want to let people around me down.'

    'And what about you?'

'I don't know. I think I might be alright if they satisfy with me, but actually it's not that okay for me.'

    'Then loosen up! Come on!'

'I'm not so sure about this. I've never been outside of my schedule before.'

'You'll never know if you never try. Think about the future, when you grow ten years older than this, you keep thinking why you don't take the good opportunity handed to you. You think about what could have happened if you take this chance with me. And you feel regret. You'll never live this experience again.'

'Whoa. Are you a sales of some company? You have a good public speaking skill.'

'If I'm that good, you would say yes.'

'Yeah, yeah. You really convince me good. I'm hanging out with a guy I met barely two hours ago and I don't know if he's trying to seduce me to kill me or something, but I'll still go.'

    'Yes! I promise I won't turn into a psychopath.'

    'Where will we go?'

'To tell you the truth, I don't know yet. But we will figure it out.'

    'Okay!'

*loosely inspired by Before Sunrise (There's one of my major’s project concerned with this film so my head is full of this movie's screenplay right now. And it turned into this.)
