  • Blurb: This article is written by Chanon Prasirtsuk (Tag LL.B. 08). With the intention to increase the readers’ confidence, the author mainly points on how you and everyone could have a fashionable clothes to wear. Also, there are several tips providing here in this article.

Have you ever wanted to get stylish clothes but they are too expensive?

I am quite sure that many people have. We all want to wear nice clothes in order to improve our appearance and confidence. In theory, clothes are one of the four basic needs for humans. We wear them to protect ourselves against the weather such as sunlight, cold, rain, and so on. We also wear clothes to conceal our bodies. In reality, clothes can define a person about his/her background, social status, job, taste, mood, etc. People wear clothes for adornment, identification, and modesty. For this reason, clothes are very fashionable. They change rapidly because of the trend. A certain pair of jeans may look outdated once a new one comes into the market. In my view, you need not to worry about it that much. Sometimes, following trends can be costly and unnecessary. Moreover, I believe that there are several clothes and styles that remain fashionable but inexpensive. In this article, I aim to provide an alternative for those who want good clothes and styles to boost their confidence and appearance without having to buy expensive stuff.
  • 1.) Plain is the Key:

Minimal style never gets old. I have looked at many articles about styling and had personal experiences. It is unnecessary to buy clothes with a special designs or gay colors. Wearing clothes that provide simple design and color is one of the best choices. On a casual day or even a formal occasion, you can go for basic colors: black, white, and navy. Additional options shall be gray, beige, brown, and olive green. You can match them up such as white shirts with black pants, black shirts with gray pants, olive green shirts with white pants, white shirts with navy pants, and so on. If you would like to make it more colorful, of course, you can! But, it is recommended that you pick either shirts or pants in neutral colors and the other in a colorful tone. A good thing about plain clothes is that they are available in so many shops and come at a cheap price. For instance, the plain white t-shirts of Decathlon cost 140 baht, while SHEIN sells them for only 120 baht. In Lazada and Shopee, you may buy black pants for 124 baht. Therefore, you should have plain clothes in your wardrobe. Not only are they affordable, but also these plain clothes will always work for you!
  • 2.) Go for a clothes rental shop:

Clothes rental shops have been so popular for a long time. Targeted customers are those who attend special occasions such as weddings, formal dinners, themed parties, photoshoots, and so on. Of course, they need to get tuxedos, suits, evening dresses, superhero costumes, etc. I want to emphasize that a rental shop is a great choice to save your budget because you only wear it for a certain occasions. Buying these clothes will only cost you more, but you will not wear them frequently. Furthermore, rental shops have been extending their offer from special costumes to general clothes. Nowadays, you may rent expensive clothes at an affordable price to wear for a short period such as a trip, a date, visiting a cafe, and whatever. This is very economical as rent costs you significantly less than a purchase does. For example, a female dress of Larobe8 costs over 2,000 baht. However, its rental price ranges from 350-450 baht subject to how many days. It is also possible to change clothes more often when you rent. Accessories like bags, watches, and necklaces are also available at rental shops. In this way, you will look stylish while spending less!
  • 3.) Consider buying secondhand clothes:

There are several reasons why you should buy used clothes. Firstly, you will save money when buying secondhand clothes. You will never have to pay anywhere near full price. This is incredible when you want to buy high-quality clothes from brand names. On average, used clothes are sold for 30%-40% of their original price. In other words, you can find secondhand clothes up to 50% cheaper than buying brand-new goods. Secondly, you can extend a garment’s life cycle. I am sure many people have unwanted clothes that are still in good condition for some reasons like no longer their preferred style, no longer fits, or whatever. Please do not throw them right away. Instead, please donate or sell them at a shop. There are plenty of people to get use out of those used clothes. When you buy secondhand clothes, you should be proud that you have taken the best advantage out of clothes unwanted by someone else. And, of course, you have entended a garment’s life cycle, which promotes sustainable fashion. Lastly, secondhand clothes are always unique. The chances of used clothes being two or more of the same item in the same store or in other stores are slim to none. And chances are, you won’t be able to find the same piece ever again because they’re probably no longer being made, especially vintage clothing.[1]
  • In conclusion

you can be stylish while not having to spend too much money. Sometimes, fashion does not have to be brand names, special, or colorful. Minimal style is everlasting. Wearing plain clothes in neutral colors always works for everyone. Sometimes, you know that you need some clothes only temporarily. So, you do need not to buy them. Instead, you can just rent clothes for special occasions or even casual ones. You will get the best clothes for a certain period of time. And, it will save you lots of money. Lastly, you should buy secondhand clothes because they are roughly 50% cheaper than new ones. You can promote sustainable fashion by continuing to use clothes that someone else no longer wants. Also, you will get to find cheap unique clothes that will not be produced anymore.
