When we come back to the bedroom, Thomas is sitting at the couch and looking at us.

“Seriously? You still want to do sexy stuff with him after all the tired illusion you have been through?”

“It’s like charging my battery. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, you will understand. Was it too loud? Sorry. I can’t control myself with him.” Riley shrugs his shoulder.

“Speaking so shamelessly. Anyway, I don’t mind hearing Leon’s erotic voice. I will save in it my memory and use it later. Thank you.”

“You really want me to beat you? ”

“Easy boy, Just share your sexy kitten in my imagination. I am not going to touch him. Aw, that hurts.”

Riley hits Thomas on the head. It’s savage. Thomas hits him back with a pillow. The nonsense battle continues for five minutes. When they see me yawn, they automatically stop.

“Take a rest. We have a long day tomorrow.” Riley walks back to sleep with me.

“Goodnight everyone.” I murmur.

We have been travelling from hospital to hospital for five days in a row. I fight with the infinity cruel illusion to the point that I feel more irritated than scared. I even ask Satan to come out and let me punch him. It isn’t scary anymore but annoying. Then the illusion happens less and less. It really depends on what we feel.

As I think Satan is giving up, Riley stops walking.

“Why are you shaking? Did you see something? ” We are holding hand. So I can feel his tremble body. Color fades from his face.

“What’s wrong? ” Thomas stops and turns back to us.

“I can’t see anything. It’s suddenly dark.” Riley squeezes my hand. His voice is lower than whispering. He is scared.

It happens to me a minute later. It’s like we are instantly blind. This is unfair! We can’t walk or move. People after us are yelling. A lot of sounds make me confused. We hold on to each other hand. Try to blink and get the sight back.

“Leon! Riley! ” Thomas is screaming. I can hear others’ scream too.

Instinctively Riley pushes me aside.I’m rolling on the ground. The sound of tires screeching echos in my ear. Following with metallic scattered sound. I feel the pain from something that runs over my legs. My bone is cracking. My vision comes back slowly. I see strangers are surrounding me.

“Call the ambulance! They got hit! ”

Who? I try to stand up but my legs awfully hurt. Thomas is lying next to me. He grabs his arm with torture expression.

“Where is Riley? Where is him? ”

“...” Thomas averts his eyes to another side.

A big van is on the footpath. I can see a major collision. Then I see someone is under the van. It can’t be...

“Three Injured. One is severely injured. Get him out from under the car! ”

“This is an illusion. I have to wake up. This isn’t real. Riley is safe.” I try to get out of the nightmare. But the ambulance comes. Pick me up on the field bed. Riley’s body passes my face. He is unconscious with plenty of bloods all over him.

“It really happened, Leon. It was fast. I can’t help both of you. He pushed you to the road. So I have to follow you. But the car went through us and hit him.”

“No, it isn’t true. Stop lying.” I hit Thomas. He looks sad but grabs my hand gently.

“Calm down. There is nothing we can do now.”

Three of us were sent to the hospital. Both of my legs broke. Thomas’ left hand also broke. But Riley is still in emergency room. Doctor said his heart stopped beating. We have to prepare for the worst. But how could I?

“Leon, I know you are totally freak out. But this is the chance Satan will come for you. He will offer you the deal. Please, don’t accept it no matter what he offers.”

“What if he can make Riley’s heart beat again? Satan is the only one I can beg.”

“Will Riley be thankful for it? He will definitely be crying more than you do now.”

“I can’t lose him! ”

“He can’t lose you too. He told me on the day he brought you to meet me. That you are the only one I have to protect if something happens. He kneed and pressed his head to the ground in the middle of university. Can you imagine how serious he is? I can’t even say no.”

Why didn’t I hear that? And why does he has to be like this?

“Do I have to let him go? ”

“Wait! I think this is the chance! ” Thomas’ expression changes to excitement.

“What chance? ”

“We can meet Grim Reaper through the dead, remember? Technically, he is already dead. His heart stopped. Let’s pray he will make it.”

And what if he never comes back? All I can do is praying, isn’t it? Satan is blinding us. Make all of this happened. He try to get me. So I won’t let him win. Even if I have to let Riley go, I won’t ask for Satan’s help.

เมื่อเรากลับมาที่ห้องนอน โทมัสนั่งอยู่บนเก้าอี้ยาว มองมาทางเรา

"เอาจริง? นายยังอยากทำเรื่องเซ็กซี่กับเขาหลังจากภาพลวงตาแสนเหนื่อยทั้งหมดที่นายผ่านมา?"

"มันเหมือนการชาร์จแบตเตอรี่นั่นแหละ ถ้านายมีแฟนนายจะเข้าใจ มันเสียงดังเกินไปเหรอ? ขอโทษที ฉันควบคุมตัวเองไม่ได้เวลาอยู่กับเขา" ไรลีย์ยักไหล่

"พูดอย่างหน้าไม่อาย เอาเถอะ ฉันไม่ถือที่จะได้ยินเสียงอีโรติกของลีออน ฉันจะบันทึกไว้ในความทรงจำและใช้คราวหลัง ขอบคุณนะ"

"นายอยากให้ฉันตีนายจริงๆ ใช่ไหม"

"ใจเย็นหนุ่มน้อย แค่แบ่งปันลูกแมวเซ็กซี่ของนายในจินตนาการของฉัน ฉันจะไม่แตะต้องเขาเลย โอ๊ย มันเจ็บนะ"

ไรลีย์ตีหัวโทมัส นั่นช่างดุร้าย โทมัสตีกลับด้วยหมอน การต่อสู้ไร้สาระดำเนินไปประมาณห้านาที จนพวกเขาเห็นผมหาว พวกเขาจึงหยุดอัตโนมัติ

"พักผ่อนเถอะ เรายังมีวันที่แสนยาวไกลพรุ่งนี้อีก" ไรลีย์เดินกลับมานอนกับผม

"ราตรีสวัสดิ์นะทุกคน" ผมพึมพำ

เราเดินทางจากโรงพยาบาลหนึ่งไปโรงพยาบาลหนึ่งเป็นเวลาห้าวันติดกัน ผมสู้กับภาพลวงตาแสนโหดร้ายที่ไม่รู้จักหยุดหย่อน จนถึงจุดที่ผมรู้สึกหงุดหงิดมากกว่ากลัว ผมถึงขั้นบอกให้ซาตานออกมาให้ผมต่อยสักที นี่มันไม่น่ากลัวอีกแล้วแต่น่ารำคาญ จากนั้นภาพลวงตาเกิดขึ้นน้อยลงเรื่อยๆ มันคงขึ้นอยู่กับความรู้สึกเราจริงๆ

ในขณะที่ผมคิดว่าซาตานกำลังยอมแพ้ ไรลีย์ก็หยุดเดิน

"ทำไมคุณตัวสั่น คุณเห็นอะไรเหรอ" เราจับมือกันอยู่ ดังนั้นผมรู้สึกได้ถึงตัวที่สั่นสะท้านของเขา สีเลือดจางหายไปจากใบหน้าเขา

"มีอะไร" โทมัสหยุดและหันกลับมาหาเรา

"ฉันไม่เห็นอะไรเลย จู่ๆ มันก็มืด" ไรลีย์บีบมือผม เสียงของเขาเบากว่าเสียงกระซิบ เขากลัว

มันเกิดขึ้นกับผมหลังจากนั้น ราวกับเราตาบอดกะทันหัน นี่ไม่ยุติธรรมเลย เราเดินหรือเคลื่อนไหวไม่ได้ คนข้างหลังเราก็ตะโกน เสียงมากมายทำให้ผมสับสน เราจับมือกันและกันไว้ พยายามกะพริบตาเพื่อให้ได้การมองเห็นคืน

"ลีออน! ไรลีย์! " โทมัสกรีดร้อง ผมได้ยินเสียงกรีดร้องของคนอื่นด้วย

ด้วยสัญชาตญาณ ไรลีย์ผลักผมไปด้านข้าง ผมกลิ้งไปกับพื้น เสียงล้อรถเสียดสีดังสะท้อนอยู่ในหู ตามมาด้วยเสียงโลหะแตกกระจาย ผมรู้สึกเจ็บจากอะไรบางอย่างที่แล่นทับขาผม กระดูกของผมแตกร้าว การมองเห็นกลับมาอย่างช้าๆ ผมเห็นคนแปลกหน้าล้อมรอบตัวผม

"เรียกรถพยาบาล! พวกเขาถูกชน!"

ใครนะ? ผมพยายามยืนขึ้นแต่ขาของผมเจ็บมาก โทมัสนอนอยู่ข้างผม เขาจับแขนตัวเองไว้ด้วยสีหน้าที่ทรมาน

"ไรลีย์อยู่ไหน เขาอยู่ไหน"

"..." โทมัสเบี่ยงสายตาไปอีกทาง

รถตู้คันใหญ่อยู่บนฟุตบาท ผมเห็นการชนอย่างรุนแรง และใครบางคนที่อยู่ใต้รถ ไม่นะ...

"บาดเจ็บสาม คนหนึ่งเจ็บสาหัส พาเขาออกมาจากใต้รถ!"

"นี่เป็นภาพลวงตา ผมต้องตื่น นี่ไม่ใช่เรื่องจริง ไรลีย์ปลอดภัย" ผมพยายามออกจากฝันร้าย แต่รถพยาบาลมา พาผมขึ้นเตียงสนาม ร่างของไรลีย์ผ่านหน้าผมไป เขาไม่มีสติและเต็มไปด้วยเลือด

"มันเกิดขึ้นจริงลีออน มันเร็วมาก ฉันช่วยพวกนายทั้งสองคนไม่ได้ เขาผลักนายลงไปที่ถนน ดังนั้นฉันจึงต้องตามนายไป แต่รถขับผ่านเราและชนเขา"

"ไม่ มันไม่จริง หยุดโกหก" ผมตีโทมัส เขาดูเศร้าแต่จับมือผมไว้อย่างอ่อนโยน

"ใจเย็น ตอนนี้ไม่มีอะไรที่เราทำได้แล้ว"

เราสามคนถูกส่งไปโรงพยาบาล ขาสองข้างของผมหัก แขนซ้ายของโทมัสก็หัก แต่ไรลีย์ยังคงอยู่ในห้องฉุกเฉิน หมอบอกว่าหัวใจเขาหยุดเต้น เราต้องเตรียมใจสำหรับสิ่งเลวร้าย แต่ผมจะทำได้ยังไง

"ลีออน ฉันรู้ว่านายกำลังสติแตก แต่ตอนนี้เป็นโอกาสของซาตานที่จะมาหานาย เขาจะเสนอข้อตกลง ได้โปรดอย่าตอบรับไม่ว่าเขาจะเสนออะไร"

"ถ้าเขาทำให้หัวใจของไรลีย์เต้นอีกครั้งล่ะ? ซาตานเป็นคนเดียวที่ผมขอร้องได้"

"แล้วไรลีย์จะรู้สึกขอบคุณไหม เขาจะต้องร้องไห้หนักกว่านายตอนนี้แน่"

"ผมเสียเขาไปไม่ได้! "

"เขาเสียนายไปไม่ได้เหมือนกัน เขาบอกฉันวันที่พานายมาเจอ ว่านายคือคนเดียวที่ฉันต้องปกป้องถ้ามีอะไรเกิดขึ้น เขาคุกเข่าและแนบหน้าผากลงกับพื้นกลางมหาวิทยาลัย นึกภาพออกไหมว่าเขาจริงจังแค่ไหน ฉันปฏิเสธไม่ได้ด้วยซ้ำ"

ทำไมผมไม่ได้ยินล่ะ และทำไมเขาต้องเป็นอย่างนี้

"ผมต้องปล่อยเขาไปเหรอ"

"เดี๋ยว! ฉันคิดว่านี่คือโอกาส" สีหน้าของโทมัสเปลี่ยนเป็นความตื่นเต้น

"โอกาสอะไร"

"เราเจอยมทูตผ่านความตายจำได้ไหม ทางเทคนิคไรลีย์ตายแล้ว หัวใจเขาหยุดเต้น เรามาภาวนาให้เขาทำมันสำเร็จเถอะ"

และถ้าหากเขาไม่กลับมาอีกเลยล่ะ? สิ่งเดียวที่ผมทำได้คือภาวนาใช่ไหม ซาตานบังตาเรา ทำให้เรื่องพวกนี้เกิดขึ้น เขาพยายามจะเอาตัวผม ดังนั้นผมจะไม่ให้เขาชนะ แม้ว่าผมจำต้องปล่อยไรลีย์ไป ผมก็จะไม่ถามหาความช่วยเหลือจากซาตาน
