After Death, Before Birthpokchanymph
21 The Right One
  • “It’s awesome. Are you sure this is the latest issue? I really need to continue reading this.” I answered Luke. He just smiled brightly, nodded constantly.
“I feel you. I’ve been there before.”

“By the way…the barista there, Marco I guess, said that it wasn’t your shift today, so I didn’t expect to see you today.” I told him and he laughed, a fainted blush on his cheek. “Actually I don’t need to come here but you said you were coming back so I thought maybe I’m going to give my comics to you myself but…well.” He smiled apologetically. This human was making more facial expressions the whole time we were staring each other than what I had made in my whole life (if you can call it a life).

“Yes, he came here everyday just to check even though it wasn’t his shift.” Marco shouted from behind the counter which made Luke blush even more.
“I came to help you when it was busy sometimes!” Luke turned his head to Marco, shouting then he turned his head back to me, “Don’t mind him…he’s not good at words.”
“Well, he’s my kind of people then. I always have a foot in mouth syndrome.” I joked.

Luke grinned and hopped on the stool next to me, saying, "I have like, plenty of comics to recommend to you if you want to read something more."
"Yeah, advise me wise one!" I grinned lopsidedly.
"Well, I don't know if you're a fan of superhero comics but I totally recommend this comic, it's an another version of Spiderman that I really like..."

We spent hours talking about comics, books and some tv shows then I realized that I didn't come here to make friends. Even though this Luke guy was really funny and friendly but I couldn't make the same mistake that I made with Kat. I should figure out what his name was.

"Hey, we've talked for hours but I haven't learned your name yet." I said, trying to be subtle.
"Right, haha. I'm Luke. I thought you might hear that from Marco."
"Well," I shrugged. "You still haven't properly introduced yourself and you didn't wear your name tag the first time we met." I pointed to his chest.
"And I still don't know your name." Luke gave me a slight closed-lipped smile. I smiled back.
    "I'm Em."
"Well, this is fun, Em but I really need to go back now. I have some assignments to do."
"That sucks." I tried to sound empathetic but it had been a long time since I attended to college, so...I don't know.

Luke pouted then took his phone out. "Before I go...do you have a Goodreads account? so I can recommend the books we talk earlier for you."
“What is what now?” I stared blankly, totally lost in what Luke had said.
"Of course, you don't have a Goodreafs account," Luke said.
At that time Goodreads wasn’t in my interest. The only human website I really liked and was interested was Wikihow, with its hilarious art and helpful information.) I could read hundreds of books and still remember what I had read, no need to put it on a social media (Goodreads is more than a social media or a web memo!, you may say that and I may roll my eyes a little.)
“Goodreads, it’s a some kind of social media that let you put information about what you read online.”
“Oh, another ‘social media’.” I made a quotation mark with my hands and raised one eyebrow. Luke rolled his eyes, “Oh my god, you sound like my mom when she talked about online stuff.” He shook his head, laughing.
"Then how about I add you on Facebook?" Luke asked and I just stared at him blankly. He looked back into my eyes.
"Let me guess...you also don't have a Facebook account."
I shrugged. What was the point of those social websites? When had the good old happy days where people spent time socializing in a coffee shop and public bath gone?
"Well...then this is my number." Luke picked some paper from his backpack and wrote his number and some words on the paper. "And that is my name, in case you create a Facebook profile someday then you can add me."
I received the paper from his hand, looking at the name on the paper, 'Luke Williams.'

    I GOT HIS NAME!!
I texted Kat while Luke went behind the counter and talked to Marco. He used the coffee machine and made some drink then my phone notified a text from Kat.

Then tell me his name you dumbass.
I texted Kat his name and anxiously waited to see if Kat could see if this guy was going to die or not.

"Hey, this is my treat. It's on the house." Luke put a cup of coffee on the table. I looked at the cup then looked at him.
"Don't worry. It's not caramel macchiato and even though it's coffee I'm pretty sure you'll like it." Luke smiled before waving his hands and went out of the café.

1 hour later, I got a text from Kat.

Congrats I'm 99.99% sure he's the right one.
