WEEK 02 - Internship in Bremen, Germany 2019

DAY 01 (10/06)
Today is the public holiday of Germany, it's call Whit Monday. Every schools, businesses and shops are close. First we plan to travel to Hamburg but because everything is close so, we stay at home.
I walk to Bremen town in the morning. Hope to see some ceremony at church because it is the important day for christian but it was not thing, just like Sunday. So, we just walk around, take picture and found the small market beside the river.
DAY 02 (11/06)
It is a Rainy day. We meet heavy rain at the morning and the weather is cool.
We start the work with put the magnet into hole that we prepare in our block. We need to stick the hard paper behind the hole to be like a base for magnet.
We print the main block on Ultimaker 2+ and the floor of its that is the lego connect on Prusa i3 printer.

We also connect the wire inside the block and install the LED.
- We finished two of our tech blocks, LED and motor.
The magnet we have is not enough for our project. So, we send and email to Nadine for ask her to order more for us.
- We also design our toy on motor for cute and interesting for children something like this.
Although, we already design the cover of our block too. We concern about the colorful and beautiful and also the understanding from picture and color.
- Tomorrow we have the appointment with Nadine at 1 pm. for first prototype to try with her children.
DAY 03 (12/06)
The main block and base that is the connector with lego which we let it print yesterday is now finishing.

We try to connect the base with lego. It a little bit tight and we need to put it in and out many time to make it smooth.
We finish the circuit in our main block and try to put the magnet in the hole. But the same as lego base, it very tight and we need to hammer it a little bit.
We print the cover design and stick on some side of the block to test. Also, test the flower copter that we make.

- It can stick together with the magnet we put in -

We connect the Tech block (the small block) into the main block (the green one). When we press the switch, the motor and LED is work. The copter flower is rotate and the LED is light.
- Just testing of the whole system and design. Maybe need to fix something again.
- Nadine did not meet us by the appointment today and also do not answer back our email. Maybe we will meet her tomorrow.
DAY 04 (13/06)
The first work we do today is to close the wall of main block by the concept that it need to be able to close and open for the teacher of kindergarten can change the battery for students.
- We using laser cutter for cut the door that can blending to close and open. Also, put the magnet inside at the edge of the door so that they can stick better and tight.
Today we have the meeting of the week at 12.25 pm. We bring our first prototype to present to them. The same as last week Iris made cake for us. Very delicious.
We receive many positive opinion from them. They like our idea and love to see our prototype. Also, give many good advise for us.
After meeting, Nadine went to talk to us and give some recommendation that the teacher of kindergarten pass through Nadine.
- The teacher want the block that have the same height or width like this wood block (in the picture below). And prefer the block that have smooth surface all side for children can put this wood block combine with our block.
- The teacher does not want any lego connector. They give the reason that children should have the freedom to put any piece in all way they want. The Lego can not put in oblique way.
- They want the smooth surface all side so the LED should be light inside the block.
- Nadine say that we should reduce the side that can be connect into only one or two side is enough.
- She want us to change the way to connect each block because the wire that thru the block is small and sharp too much for children.
- She also want every block to be in the same size. And will be good if the children can draw their design into the wall.
So we need to brainstorm again and redesign everything. We get that we will change the way to conductor by using small magnet and solder it. And we will redesign every block into same size also, the LED block should have some small transparent window for seeing the LED inside.

The magnet we order will come on Monday, 17 June. Nadine said this is fastest that they can provide.
- We need to finish two prototype for children before Wednesday, 19 June. because the kindergarten about 3-6 child will come and test our prototype.
DAY 05 (14/06)
Today the house's owner promise to come and fix the water heater at 10 am after he postpone almost 1 week. So, Un and Gem will wait him at home and another three of us come to university first.

Un call me that the house's owner come and said that he will come back again with technician around 3 pm. Hence, I will come back home for exchange with Gem.
- Today we continue cut the battery block and design the door for exchange battery. Also, the LED block that redesign for it can have the LED lightning inside too.
We also try to solder the magnet with wire inside but we met a little problem that the surface of the magnet is not good in stick to the solder. So, our work are slow down because we take so much time for solder the magnet.

From requirement of last week, we design one prototype for children can draw the picture on the wall and another one already have the design to see the different of how they enjoying.

At 3 pm we come back home and met the technician and the house's owner. He say the water heater can work now. But it work for a while and now broken again. We think we will call him again for fix it.
- Nadine told us that if the magnet will not come on Monday she will bring us to buy its outside the university.
