fashion kills what
  • Hey! Long time no see. I wanna update something. I totally interest in the ‘’fast fashion” topic. Since I had watched the movie name "true cost". It makes me wanna know more about fast fashion. So, I wanna share with you all about what I just read. The article's name is "How fast fashion hurts the environment, workers, society posted in phys.org by Neil Schoenherr. He interviewed Christine Ekenga, co-author of the paper "The Global environment injustice of fast fashion," published in the journal Environmental Health.  She talked about fast fashion "This is the massive problem" I agree with her, fast fashion industry make more problem every day but only a few people know.  My friends always ask me about what fast fashion is. They just only know that to solve the fast-fashion problem, they need to use clothes as long as you can or sell them in the second-hand market. The problem is bigger than that like what Ekenga wrote. Those who work near textile manufacturing facilities bear a disproportionate burden of environmental health hazards. Furthermore, fast fashion has created millions of tons of textile waste in landfills. This is particularly applicable to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) as much of this waste ends up in second-hand clothing markets. I think Thailand is one of the LMICs. Thailand has many textile manufacturing and industry. Thailand’s fashion influenced by Japanese Americans and Korean. So, Thai people have different styles and the trend ran so fast. While the trend runs fast, more clothes are generated, and the more use of natural resources. How people now solve this problem? Many people sell second-hand clothes, but fewer people buy them, so the price is so cheap. I think, If Thai people have more interesting in the second-hand market, it will help reduce the fast-fashion problem. But that does not solve all. The answer to the fast-fashion problem in Thailand may be “awareness” I want to make people have more awareness about fast fashion. They will not only change their attitude but also their habits. They will provoke other people by their nature. So fast fashion is not a massive problem anymore, I believe.
